Description

The Law Office of Joel B. Jackson is looking for an experienced Legal Assistant part time and/or full time. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support, including drafting and filing legal documents, preparing legal correspondence, and managing the day-to-day operations of the office. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. Bilingual is a plus.

Monday-Thursday - 7.5 hour shift
Friday - Office closes at noon

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills is a MUST
  • Familiar with Family and Probate Law. 
  • Familiar with court and clerk procedures of various counties in Texas. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Must utilize E-filing format and Zoom format.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook in addition to TXdocs. 
  • Proficient in case management software including but not limited to MyCase and LawPay. 
  • Excellent spelling and grammar is a MUST. 
  • Ability to take detailed accurate notes and records. 
  • Promptly respond to all e-mails and voicemails. 
  • Excellent proofreading skills.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and guests in person or on the telephone - answering, screening, and/or directing inquiries. 
  • Daily utilize case management system, including billing and expenses. 
  • Maintain and Organize files. 
  • Go through e-mails, move to relevant files and answer per direction of attorney. 
  • Drafting with help of managing attorney, e-mails, letter, pleadings, orders, subpoenas, pretrial motions and orders, etc.
  • Proofread all documents before they go out to the client, other attorneys, or the Court. 
  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, and legal correspondence. 
  • Schedule appointments and meetings with clients and other professionals. 
  • Provide administrative support to attorney. 
  • Maintain a calendar of court dates and client appointments.
